A new report has been started in the Ceredigion area of Wales in the bid to determine how many consumers have access to broadband services.
The local council has begun a survey in an attempt to mark out where such coverage could be improved and if telephone signal levels are also acceptable, reports the BBC.
Assistant Director of Corporate Performance at Ceredigion council Mark Elliott suggested to local people that they should be a part of the poll.
"I urge all citizens to complete the survey form so we can establish whether there is a digital divide occurring and where it is," he told the publication.
He added that high-speed internet capabilities should result in the "death of distance" because so many products are available online.
There had been claims that parts of Wales were lagging behind in terms of the broadband speeds and connections available to people in the country.
The chair of Powys council's economic and social development committee, Richard Noyce, had told the same news provider that problems could be witnessed.
