All BBC programmes available online

The BBC has revealed that snippets of every single programme it has ever produced are to be made available online, which may interest broadband users.

All of these clips will be stored to be used on the iPlayer service, with a number of extras including links part of the development.

Controller of Multi-Platform and Portfolio for BBC Vision is set to take charge of the initiative and will be responsible for the roll-out of the project.

Director of BBC Vision Jane Bennett said at a conference in Canada that there will be an element of permanence for consumers wanting their favourite shows.

"Each page and clip will be promotional for that programme in perpetuity. They will offer the possibility of hits that go on and on - or are rediscovered when the time is right," she commented.

She added that web users will be linked to the relevant pages even if they are not readily available on iPlayer.

According to the BBC, the solution allows television fans to catch up on programmes they may have missed in the past week.
