Businesses will be hit 'by poor broadband'

9 July 2008

Business running could be harmed in the UK due to inefficient broadband speeds, it has been claimed this week. The Communications Management Association (CMA) remarked that at present it does not look as though companies' desires will be matched in the level of services they can gain access to. And the firm suggested that the government devises a plan that will enable more parties to operate next generation access services. Director of Regulatory Affairs at the CMA David Harrington stated that not much has been done recently to try and improve the situation. "Back in April last year, we warned there was a limited window of opportunity over the next 12 to 24 months to develop and implement a concerted and innovative approach," he commented. Watchdog Ofcom recently outlined a framework for organisations beginning broadband offerings. It noted that support should be offered because services have to be adequate in the present climate.
