An advertisement created by BT Broadband will not be banned even though it has led to numerous complaints. Worried consumers had said that the promotion suggests that children should be able to use the internet all the time, but the Advertising Standards Agency decided to not pull it. Many of the concerned parents had noted that the advert, which shows a child locked in her room on the internet, may give the impression that parents do not have to watch their children when surfing the web, news that may interest those with broadband. Opponents had argued that the voiceover of the advert is misleading in the sense that it states BT technology can protect kids in every avenue when online. "We considered that most viewers would not expect BT's Parental Controls software to protect their children from all online threats," a spokesperson at the ASA remarked. Earlier this week, BT said that it is going to pump £1.5 billion into funding for better broadband services in the UK.
