Sky has scrapped the usage restrictions on its top broadband package, allowing customers to download as much content as they like each month. The broadband provider has removed the fair usage policy from its Broadband MAX product which means users will face no restrictions as they surf. Sky customers with satellite television services are offered the package at an extra £10 per month and speeds of up to 16 megabits per second are promised. According to Sky, its Broadband MAX offering is the only "truly unlimited" broadband service available to UK consumers. Meanwhile, Sky has blamed industry regulator Ofcom for the delay of its terrestrial pay TV offering Picnic, insisting it is taking too long to review the proposals. It has now shelved the plans - which would see a combination of basic and premium Sky content offered on Freeview channels at an additional cost - until further notice.
