UK broadband users are spending more time surfing the web, according to a new survey by the consumer information site ISPreview. It found that just over half of all broadband customers believe they are online for longer today than they were last year. Some 52% said they spend more than 24 hours a week on the internet, which equates to 3.4 hours each day, while 17% said they are online for between 16 and 24 hours a week. The research also shows that broadband connections are becoming an increasingly important part of people's everyday lives. "Broadband internet access has finally become an established form of both entertainment and productivity in the home," said ISPreview Editor-in-Chief Mark Jackson. Earlier this month, research by the cashback network froggybank.co.uk revealed that between May and July this year, 8.5% more people switched broadband providers than they did during the same period in 2007.
