Virgin launches mobile broadband deal

1 October 2008

Virgin has launched a new mobile broadband deal offering speeds of up to 3.6 megabits per second and a download limit of three gigabytes each month. Consumers signing up to the 18-month contract will receive a USB modem that can be plugged into their laptop, allowing them to surf the web anywhere. The service will cost £15 per month, although subscribers can pay an additional £15 for a further gigabyte of data should they exceed their monthly limit. Neil Berkett, Chief Executive of Virgin Media, said: "The launch of our mobile broadband product means UK consumers can now get all of their broadband needs from the UK's leading broadband expert." The move comes after a number of laptop makers and mobile phone companies joined forces to champion built-in notebook technology that will support next-generation broadband and allow consumers to connect to the web instantly. A newly-created service mark will identify those laptops that contain the technology.
