More people are going to be shopping online this holiday season in an effort to save money during the credit crunch, a prominent financial adviser has asserted.
Jasmine Birtles, finance expert for ITV's This Morning, predicted that there will be "more and more people" shopping online in the lead-up to Christmas.
She stated that online shopping is often more convenient than shopping on the high street, as people can shop at any time of the day and do not have to worry about fighting their way through crowds or waiting in long queues.
In addition, she explained that responsible shoppers may be able to profit from their online spend, "If you use a rewards card, you get money back from your spending so long as you know you are going to pay that all off before it hits the interest period."
She added: "If you spend loads with your air miles card you can buy yourself a weekend off after Christmas to recover."
New research carried out on behalf of Lloyds TSB by Tickbox.net and Opinion Matters found that 77% of people are planning to save on their Christmas purchases with special offers, deals and reward schemes.
