Orange launches new fixed and mobile broadband package

28 November 2008

A new combined fixed and mobile broadband deal is to be launched by Orange, providing speeds of up to eight megabits per second.

Called Orange Home and Mobile Broadband, the package will be available for £20 a month and customers will get a three gigabyte download limit.

Also included are a free wireless router and a USB dongle, as well as free evening and weekend calls to UK landlines.

According to PC Pro, the launch of the new package may prompt other mobile broadband providers to lower their prices.

Indeed, some companies charge £15 for mobile broadband alone, with fixed connections costing extra on top of this.

Orange has also launched an Internet Everywhere 30 Days package, which offers mobile broadband on a monthly rolling contract.

Asif Aziz, Director of Broadband and Home at Orange UK, said: "We believe these new offers not only complement our existing fixed and mobile broadband service range, but also provide flexible alternatives."

Meanwhile, a recent survey by Nielsen Online shows that the number of consumers using mobile broadband increased by 25% in the third quarter of the year.
