A number of broadband users do not understand what speed they should be expecting from their connection, it is claimed. Research conducted by thinkbroadband.com shows this is one of the most commonly asked questions, with the website offering handy solutions. "Factors such as the state of the telephone wiring in the home, congestion and configuration of the computer are all further factors that can reduce the speed you actually get," it continues. In addition to this, there is often confusion over units, with the website informing customers that broadband is sold in mega bits per second, despite computers often reporting the figure in kilo bytes per second. Earlier this week, broadband.co.uk said many of the UK's broadband connections are falling short of the government's target of 2Mbps. This is the case for 38.5% of connections, it reported after carrying out speed tests across the country. Looking for super-fast broadband? Check prices online now.
