People set to benefit from super-fast broadband

More areas of the UK are set to benefit from super-fast broadband, BT has announced.

Both businesses and homeowners can potentially benefit from connection speeds of up to 60Mb/s, the provider reveals, with cities such as Manchester and London first on the list.

Steve Robertson, Chief Executive Officer of Openreach, the BT division responsible for the delivery of the plans, says: "Super-fast broadband is essential to the UK's future and so it is great to announce this initial set of locations.

"This approach will benefit customers as there will undoubtedly be fierce competition for their business."

It is anticipated that the service will provide upstream speeds of up to 10Mb/s, which will enable customers to post videos and enjoy hi-definition video conferencing and gaming.

Ofcom unveiled plans in recent weeks to allow companies to invest in super-fast broadband services in the UK. Looking for a faster broadband connection? Search with uSwitch.com now.
