Virgin Media is set to roll out broadband speeds of between 100 and 150Mbps before BT, it is revealed.
The company will achieve "significantly higher speeds" in the near future, Chief Executive of Virgin Media Neil Berkett tells BBC News.
"If BT were to meet the time frame they have suggested - of finishing by 2012 - I would see us as having much, much faster upstream speed," he reveals to the news provider.
Furthermore, the expert anticipates that downstream will run at a minimum of 100Mbps and "possibly more".
BT revealed earlier this week that a number of cities throughout the UK were to benefit from its super-fast broadband speeds, with Edinburgh, Glasgow and Greater Manchester among the first in line.
However, Mr Berkett seems optimistic that Virgin Media can match - and possibly improve - these statistics in order to provide its customers with a more efficient service.
