4 in 10 'not satisfied' with broadband service

27 March 2009

Some 42% of consumers are not satisfied with the service they receive from their broadband provider, a survey has shown.

There are also huge gaps opening up in the quality of customer service different broadband providers provide, the uSwitch.com poll shows.

Households spend a total of £2.6 billion a year on broadband services, more than half (54%) of customers believe that they are not on their provider's best deal.

Steve Weller, Communications Expert at the price comparison site, explained that the research shows older broadband providers have lost sight of what customers want.

He said: "The difference in performance between the best and worst companies is now greater than ever, so it's vital for customers to keep tabs on their situation to make sure that they are getting the best bang for their buck.

"With prices continuing to tumble, moving to a better deal could be a great way to cut the cost of their monthly broadband bill."

He added that customers are still willing to spend on high-speed broadband despite the economic downturn.

However, recent research by uSwitch.com indicated that luxuries such as holidays and a social life have become more important than home insurance for many consumers during the downturn.
