O2 Broadband has been voted the best internet service provider (ISP) by readers of PC Advisor magazine, beating off stiff competition from Be Broadband, Plusnet and Zen. Consumers said that O2 Broadband - which was launched a year ago - offered good value coupled with reliable and fast connections. It received an overall score of 4.5, compared to 4.2 for joint runners up Plusnet and Be Broadband, notching up higher marks for both value and download speeds. According to PC Advisor, there are now 16.7 million broadband subscribers in the UK, with Sunderland taking the title of most connected city thanks to a penetration rate of 66%. Its survey also revealed that 37% of broadband users spend 20 hours or more online for leisure purposes each week. Research carried out last month by the consumer information site ISPreview revealed that just over half of all broadband customers think they spend more time online today than they did last year.
