With a long weekend coming up this week and thousands of families already enjoying the Easter holidays, Saga insurance has issued a warning to drivers to check their cars before setting off on long journeys.
Research from Saga shows that with three million Britons driving abroad on holiday each year, drivers should take a number of precautions to ensure their trip runs as smoothly as possible.
Checking tyre condition, adjusting headlights for driving on the other side of the road and taking the car for a full service are just some of the many ways in which a journey can be improved.
Maintaining the correct amount of oil, washer fluid and water in the car's engine is also to be recommended. Drivers are also being advised to carry a pair of warning triangles and a first aid kit in case of a break-down.
Motorists should also ensure that their car insurance policy covers them for every eventuality while they are abroad before they set off and to become familiar with the different road signs they will encounter on foreign roads.
