A recent poll of over 30,000 drivers has found that Norwich Union - famous for its "Quote me happy" catchphrase - is the worst car insurance provider.
Carried out by Auto Express magazine for its July issue, the survey showed that the sub-standard call centres and poor value for money left Norwich Union languishing at the bottom of the table.
Despite spending million of pounds on advertising, it appears that the money would be better spent on improving its customer services, as its overseas call centres were voted the worst of 45 insurers.
David Ross, a spokesman for Norwich Union, told the Metro: "Independent research has shown there is little difference in the quality of service offered from our Indian call centres to our UK ones."
Other insurers who were heavily criticised by Auto Express' readership included Endsleigh, Halifax, Admiral and Budget.
The best insurer for the second year running was NFU Mutual which specialises in catering for countryside drivers. Saga insurance - aimed at the over 50s market - also scored highly, with Rias - another over 50s specialist - coming third.
