In a decision which may see car insurance premiums fall, a 3 million campaign aimed at preventing drink-driving is to be launched by the Government.
Aimed at the worst offenders - young male drivers - it is hoped that the new campaign will get the message to those most likely to drink and drive, and therefore make a large impact on the number of road deaths.
Backed by Transport Secetary Ruth Kelly, the campaign comes soon after the House of Commons Transport Committee recommended the driving age should rise from 17 to 18-years-old.
Speaking about her support for the major new campaign Ms Kelly said: "Drink drivers are a danger to themselves and others and there is no place for them on our roads.
"Thirty years of sustained Government campaigns have successfully changed attitudes and helped to significantly cut alcohol-related road deaths."
