A new study on which makes people return to with car insurance payments after a write-off has shown that Fords garner the most loyalty.
Car insurance provider Admiral looked at 16,000 total loss claims and found that when the worst happens and their car is written off, Ford drivers are the most likely to replace their car with another Ford, and out of these, Focus owners were the most likely to stick to the same model.
Volkswagen came second with a 39.9% loyalty rate. Out of Volkswagens, Golf owners are the most likely to replace their vehicle like for like.
Mercedes came third with a 35.9% loyalty rate but perhaps most surprisingly Audi failed to even make the top ten with only 26.5 per cent of owners choosing the same brand for their next vehicle.
At the opposite end of the list, the brands retaining the least customers after a write off are Seat and Hyundai with loyalty rates of 14.8% and 15.3% respectively.
Admiral managing director, Sue Longthorn said: "It's somewhat surprising to see Audi come so low in the list especially as Volkswagen, Mercedes and BMW are so high."
"At the opposite end of the list…It looks like some manufacturers need to start pulling out the stops to keep their customers. Seat and Hyundai are big names and you'd expect them to be making more of a positive impact on drivers than they seem to be."
