The number of people injured or killed on the roads in York has fallen, according to new figures released.
York council said that the trend has developed because of a number of new safety schemes that have taken place in recent times, reports the Yorkshire Post.
In 2002, the amount of people seriously injured or killed stood at 120, but this figure has now dropped to 93, it stated.
Executive Member for City Strategy councillor Ann Reid remarked that she is happy the campaigns have been successful to an extent, while drivers may find that their car insurance premiums have remained intact.
"I am pleased that our continued emphasis on a wide variety of road safety measures and campaigns appears to be having a positive effect," she told the paper.
Next week, the council will stage a meeting to look at proposals for further safety measures for the next financial year.
Recently residents in Southport called for speed cameras at one accident hotspot after another collision there.
