Fresh speed cameras may be introduced in one area of Cambridgeshire, but only if they get approval from the government.
The devices may be put on a dangerous stretch of road that lies between Chatteris and Ramsey, Cambridgeshire County Council suggested, as reported by the Hunts Post.
Team Leader at the council's road engineering safety unit Amanda Mays hoped that the new cameras will be approved by the authorities so that road safety measures are improved.
"We are hoping to hear that the system has approval within the next month or so, and if all goes through smoothly, we will obviously simply proceed with installation of the new system," she told the news source.
Ms Mays added that putting average cameras on the section of road is a "priority" for the organisation, something that may be of interest to those who want their car insurance premiums to remain intact.
In related news, a brand new road safety initiative has begun in Bedmond, Hertfordshire, as officials look to improve the safety of the roads.
