Plans by police to use unmarked speed camera vehicles in one part of Derbyshire have been met with criticism by locals.
One of these, Andy Evans, told the Belper News that the tactics are "underhand" and could well be avoided.
He suggested that the devices are not effective and simply attempt to punish drivers rather than lower their speed, something that may also impact on car insurance premiums.
But a spokesman for Derbyshire police noted that the force attempts to enhance its law-making with the use of various measures.
"This work is carried out on routes which are already signposted as having speed enforcement cameras sited on them and analysis has highlighted as being collision hotspots," he told the publication.
He added that some motorists who continue to try and break the law, despite the warnings laid out to them on a regular basis.
Recently, a campaign was instigated in an attempt to get the speed limit on one road in Devizes, Wiltshire, reduced to 20mph.
