A new road safety initiative has been instigated in Peterhead in an attempt to teach motorists about dangerous driving.
Operation Hot Strike is to directly target young drivers who regularly drive around a car park in vehicles on Monday nights, reports the Press and Journal.
Road Safety Grampian, which has been launched by the police, the Scottish Ambulance Service and Grampian Fire and Rescue Service, was responsible for the move after a number of incidents involving youngsters.
A spokesman for the police suggested that it is imperative that casualties witnessed as part of road accidents decrease.
"It's very important that we get the message through," he told the publication.
The force has said that a large proportion of crashes are seen after the car-lovers meet on Monday nights, collisions that could impact on their car insurance premiums.
Earlier this week it was revealed that North Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership is to use speed cameras to catch drivers on their mobile telephones.
