Motorists in Essex have claimed that police are hiding speed cameras behind other vehicles in an attempt to catch them out, something that could have an impact on a driver's car insurance.
Locals close to Westcliff suggested that speed camera vans are being deliberately positioned next to unmarked ones, reports the Essex Echo.
One of these residents, Timothy Burr, told the publication that he thought cameras were used as a way to make the roads safer and not to generate cash.
He said: "That's why they painted them yellow - not to make money, but to slow people down. What's the point if people can't see the camera?"
In response, spokesman for Essex police Nishan Wijerante remarked that drivers should have an idea where the devices are placed.
The official added that the presence of cameras is usually clearly marked so motorists can slow down in time.
Norfolk police have begun to use a speed camera van that has multi-angled devices, reports the Norwich Evening News.
