Speed cameras on British roads are putting drivers off the task in hand, motorists themselves have claimed in a new poll.
Of those questioned by RoadPilot LTD, 52% said that warning signs are not adequate enough to tell them where cameras are positioned, while over 30% brake automatically when they see a camera.
Chief Executive at the company James Flynn noted that this is a concerning development, considering cameras should improve the safety of roads.
"It is worrying that many people think that speed cameras are having an adverse effect on their driving, especially given that they were introduced as a means of improving road safety in the first place," he commented.
On top of the other statistics, 53% of respondents asserted that they feel distracted and not helped by the devices.
This week it was claimed by drivers in Essex that police are hiding speed cameras behind other vehicles in an attempt to fine more motorists.
Drivers caught breaking the law may find that their car insurance premiums are impacted on.
