Changes planned in Rutland

6 June 2008

The council in Rutland may make amendments to the roads there after locals started a campaign, something that could have a positive impact on their car insurance premiums.

It is hoped that incidents of speeding in Greetham will be diminished following the planned introduction of improved traffic signals, reports the Rutland Times.

Officials are due to meet in the coming week and may approve the proposals for Main Street, where a number of incidents have been seen in recent times.

Resident Judith Roberts asserted that drivers regularly break the speed limit and something needs to be done to change matters.

"I personally think it would be a better idea to have chicanes like the ones installed through Great Casterton recently because they could be arranged to slow traffic down," she told the publication.

She added that car users pull out of concealed driveways and that this is a danger in itself.

Lancashire motorists recently claimed that a mobile speed camera in the area has been disguised, in a deliberate attempt to catch them out.
