Drink drivers have managed to distort road safety figures in one area of Scotland, police said, something that may interest those with car insurance.
Dumfries and Galloway officers noted that while the number of incidents witnessed there has dipped in comparison to the first six months of last year, illegal driving was on the up, reports the BBC.
Officers looked at a number of poor driving episodes, such as motorists travelling in the wrong direction on one stretch.
Sergeant Scott McLachlan warned drivers that they are being irresponsible when behaving in this manner and drinking alcohol before getting behind the wheel.
"While I am extremely pleased to see our casualty figures dropping this recent behaviour suggests I should remain cautious," he commented.
He added that it is "worrying" some people still think that they can perform without a handicap when under the influence.
Recently, uSwitch.com said that car running costs are beginning to escalate and in some cases the price of petrol, tax and insurance is more expensive than the vehicle itself.
