Amendments to a road in the north-east of England have been met with praise because of the number of accidents that have been seen there in past times, news that may interest those with car insurance. Campaigners close to the A66 between Darlington and Stockton had been attempting to improve the stretch for many years yet nothing was done, reports the Northern Echo. But now as a result of the changes, Transport Minister Tom Harris noted that locals can breathe a sigh of relief and notice the impact. "I wish schemes like this could happen more often, but at least this one can now make a difference," he told the publication. Various alterations have taken place on the road, such as the creation of new sliproads, the closure of junctions and the positioning of a bridge. Such a drive ought to give people a greater degree of "confidence" to use the roads once more, Mr Harris added. In other news, calls have been made for the introduction of a roundabout close to the A19, after various accidents at the location.
