A high number of drivers were stopped as part of an initiative that took place in Beaconsfield in Buckinghamshire recently. In total, 3,175 vehicles were looked at during the drive, with many caught above the legal speed limit of 30mph, reports the Bucks Free Press. Such individuals were caught on special cameras operated by both the Neighbourhood Action Group and the police, efforts that could impact on drivers' car insurance. It is imperative that such instances of poor driving and law breaking are discontinued in the future, said Sergeant Dominic Williamson. "We intend to continue to monitor and enforce the speed limits around Beaconsfield," he told the publication. He added that due to the help of volunteers the force has been able to begin a scheme that will continue for the foreseeable future. Recently, the Thames Valley Safer Roads Partnership stated that £1 million in fines have been handed to drivers in the Bracknell area.
