Windscreen damage is 'worst in the south-east'

10 July 2008

Car windscreens in the south-east of England are more likely to be damaged then anywhere else in the country, new research has revealed. According to Churchill Car Insurance, East Anglia and the south are the top two regions for windscreen damage claims. Car insurance holders in London, central and the south-west also make a large amount of windscreen claims, the firm stated, as these areas often consist of busy roads near to arable farming land where debris is kicked up by machinery. Spokesperson for Churchill Insurance Claire Foster urged those who find that their windscreen is damaged to inform the car insurance company. "If drivers fail to fix the damage, this could impair people's vision whilst driving. Many people do not realise that windscreen claims will not affect their no claims discount under most insurance policies, so there is no sense in delaying the inevitable," she said. Last week, swiftcover.com revealed that car thieves are most likely to strike in London.
