Young drivers urged to shop around for car insurance

1 September 2008

Young motorists could save over £150 if they shop around for cheaper car insurance deals, according to swiftcover.com. The insurer points out that it is "pretty much guaranteed" that drivers in their twenties will pay more for car insurance than older motorists. However, research carried out by the company reveals that there are some considerable savings to be had by comparing deals available on the market. "Our message to all young drivers, both men and women, is to shop around - and certainly not to settle for your renewal premium until you have made sure it is competitive," said Marketing Director Tina Shortle. The Association of British Insurers said recently that shopping around was the best way to cut the cost of car insurance. Spokesman Malcolm Tarling said that even younger motorists could make some "significant savings". But he urged drivers not to compare deals on price alone and to consider the level of cover that each policy provides before signing up.
