The over-50s insurance provider RIAS has launched a new protection product that will be sold as an additional benefit when customers take out car insurance policies.
Motorists who purchase the excess protection policy will be reimbursed for their excess payment should they be forced make a claim on their insurance.
The extra cover costs as little as 25 pence per week and means drivers will not be left out of pocket if they are involved in an accident or suffer damage to their vehicle.
Janet Conner, Managing Director of RIAS, said: "What makes this product so attractive to customers is that policyholders can be secure in the knowledge that they will get their excess back, even if they were responsible for the accident."
The excess protection policy provides cover for excesses of up to £300 and is available to both new and existing customers.
RIAS recently advised drivers to protect their no claims bonuses in order to stand the best chance of finding cheaper car insurance.
