Families 'could save' with multicar policies

30 December 2008

Families with more than one car are being advised to consider multicar insurance policies to make the cost of motoring cheaper.

According to the car insurance provider Admiral, households could save up to 23% on their premiums by opting for such a deal.

It points out that today, increasing numbers of young people are living with their parents because they cannot afford their own home.

If they drive, chances are they will have their own car, which means a family of four with grown up children could have four separate vehicles to insure.

A multicar premium will allow a family to insure all of their cars together for a cheaper price than if they were to purchase individual policies.

It also means they will have only one renewal date to remember and will only need to deal with one company, Admiral states.

Meanwhile, the RAC is urging drivers to consider taking out breakdown cover alongside their car insurance policies to avoid being stuck at the side of the road, the Guardian reports.
