The proposed equality bill may cause people's car insurance premiums to increase, one company warns. AA car insurance says that if it comes into place, the move will spell "an increase for the majority", putting further financial pressures on household incomes. Director of AA insurance Simon Douglas says: "There is a significantly greater likelihood of a claim being made especially by young and inexperienced people. "Similarly, as age advances, the likelihood of being involved in a collision increases." He believes removing age discrimination will increase premiums for a number of middle-aged drivers, with both men and women likely to be affected. Mr Douglas claims the lowest risk is produced by drivers between the ages of 45 and 65, with those under 21 being ten times more likely to make a claim. The Association of British Insurers agrees with these sentiments, saying the bill is unnecessary. Looking for car insurance? Search online now to find the best deals.
