CO2 emissions are becoming an important part of buying a car for many people, one expert says, with car insurance often made cheaper through a reduced carbon footprint.
John Buckley, Managing Director of Carbon Footprint, says saving money is often the motivation behind the decisions, with environmental impact also being an important factor.
"When people go out looking for cars, they do tend to...look at the CO2 emissions and the miles per gallon that the car does," he reveals.
He claims that people may not be looking to change their vehicles at the moment, but when people do, they are able to make savings where possible.
According to an AutoTrader survey published this month, 51% of motorists are considering purchasing an environmentally-friendly car and 42% will make sure their next car has lower CO2 emissions than their current vehicle.
