Fuel duty price rises will further increase the price of fuel, experts believe, with people urged to find cheaper car insurance to reduce motoring costs.
As of April 1st, the AA believes an additional 2.12 pence will be added to the cost of petrol, making the average price per litre 90.56 pence.
The organisation is set to meet with ministers to discuss the price hike, which it believes will do further damage to the economy.
"On April 1st, if the government goes ahead with its fuel duty hike, it will join local authorities in conveniently forgetting that drivers also face the threat of severe financial hardship from the credit crunch," comments President of the AA Edmund King.
The body believes soaring prices seen at the beginning of the year have now begun to level-off, although four major supermarkets have now raised their average petrol prices.
