A number of car insurance providers are cashing in on the successes of the government's scrappage scheme by penalising their customers with disproportionate mid-term adjustment fees, research shows.
Findings compiled by price comparison site uSwitch.com reveal those who have benefited from the scrappage allowance have collectively been charged £679,000 in admin fees for changing their vehicles.
Commenting on the charges, Ashton Berkhauer, Insurance Expert at uSwitch.com, said: "uSwitch.com believes that all mid-term adjustment fees for scrappage scheme customers should be waived in case they actually serve to deter willing participants from trying to do their bit to support the faltering car industry."
He added that doing research can help people make sure they are making the best savings, which can be made easy with uSwitch.com.
Over 60,000 orders for new cars were placed in the period from April 22nd until June 7th since the subsidy of £2,000 was announced in the Budget, it was recently announced.
