Many adults in the UK have admitted to getting into a car with a drink driver, according to new research.
Findings from Direct Line Car Insurance show 34% of adults are guilty of this and over one in three have acted as a lookout for a drink driver.
Of those questioned, 12% said they had taken the car keys from someone they believed to be over the legal limit and 10% drove the car themselves.
"There is no excuse for drink driving and people's willingness to get in the car with a drink driver is alarming," commented Maggie Game, Head of Direct Line Car insurance. S
he added that by condoning the behaviour, these people were risking their own lives and those of other road users.
Direct Line recently revealed that two-thirds of Britons do not recognise a zebra crossing sign.
