Hunting for car insurance quote 'can take 2 hours'

24 June 2009

People searching for car insurance online can spend as much as two hours scouring through the various deals, it has been said.

Research from Swinton showed that out of the 1,000 people questioned, many are spending considerably longer looking for car insurance than they did last year.

In May 2008, it is revealed that drivers spent an average of one-and-a-half hours looking for the best policy, which has since increased to two hours.

Steve Chelton, Insurer Development Manager for Swinton, said: "The increased use and availability of the internet has had a massive impact on the car insurance industry.

"Motorists can now get a quote anytime, anywhere and in a short amount of time."

The British Insurance Brokers' Association recently warned against cutting corners during the recession when it comes to car insurance.
