Digital TV spend on the rise?
There has been a rise in the number of people subscribing to digital TV packages, new figures show.

Research from FutureSource Consulting shows that throughout the course of 2009, UK consumers spent £19.7 billion on purchasing media products and services.

Meanwhile, spending on digital TV packages totalled £4.6 billon at the end of last year, Digital Spy reports, which marks a 6.4% rise on the previous 12 months.

Pay-TV services also fare well on a global basis, equating to 28% of the total market.

Virgin Media is currently looking to expand its digital TV offering, as it has recently announced it is to add E4 HD and Film4 HD to its service.

"There's a growing appetite for HD and our line up of C4HD, E4HD and, now, Film4HD provides a great choice of HD content for viewers," commented Sarah Rose, Head of Video On-Demand and Channel Development at Channel 4.
