O2 joins forces with BT to improve mobile broadband
It is also hoped that customers will benefit from more reliable connections as a result of the improvements.
Nigel Purdy, Head of Networks at Telefonica O2 UK, said: "As we move to an all IP world and as data traffic volumes increase, the consolidation of our fixed and mobile core networks is a common sense approach that will help future-proof our business."
Last month, O2 revealed it was to start offering home phone services as of March, which will be available to existing broadband customers.
Two packages will be on offer priced at £9.50 and £12.50 a month, although bundles will also be on the market.
