The UK has experienced the highest year-on-year increase in people watching TV, new figures have revealed.

Statistics from Ofcom show people in the UK watched an average of 3.8 hours of TV a day last year, a 3.2% increase on the previous year.

Furthermore, there has been a rise in the number of digital TV sets in the country's households - the highest proportion out of all the countries surveyed.

The statistics show 88% of households in the UK have a digital TV as their main set, compared to the US which ranked in second place with 76%.

However, the most TV was watched in the US last year, with the average American watching 4.6 hours a day, up 1.8% on the previous year.

Ofcom recently found that more people are buying bundled services from the same provider in a bid to save money, increasing by 5% when compared to 2008.
