The Nationwide Building Society has today revealed that British holidaymakers will be needlessly charged £500 million this year by credit card suppliers.
The astronomical figure represents that which emanates from the charges resulting from the approximate £20 billion spent by UK consumers on holidays.
Nationwide worked out that some current account users could be charged up to £81 on £200 of currency withdrawals and £1,000 of spending.
"I think it is a shame that so many credit and current account debit card providers are still penalising their customers for going on holiday," commented Stuart Bernau, Nationwide's executive director.
"If consumers don't want to be unhappy bunnies this Easter, they should select a card that avoids unnecessary charges," Mr Bernau continued.
