Best credit card deals help Brits lose weight

18 May 2005

It has been revealed that Britons spend a huge amount of money in order to lose weight, especially with the summer on the horizon and the desire to look trim in swimsuits.

The latest findings from Morgan Stanley Consumer Banking reveals that Brits will collectively spend £874 million on getting the physique they want for this spring and summer, working out at around £50 per person.

Women will spend the most on shaping up and fighting the fat, spending an average of £59 per month each, while men will spend an average of £35, the research found.

Patrick Muir, marketing director at Morgan Stanley Consumer Banking, said: "It is worth thinking about how we can be clever about spending in the run-up to summer, for example paying for your gym membership on a credit card with cashback, so you can gain some pounds in your wallet to put towards a summer break."

It is therefore useful to find the right credit card in order to shed the pounds without losing the pounds from your wallet.
