New credit card gives cashback

17 June 2005

Yorkshire Building Society (YBS) and the Co-operative Bank are preparing to launch a new credit card that will boost customers' spending and saving power.

An innovative cashback feature on the card means that new borrowers have one per cent of the first £2,000 they spend credited to their mortgage, and 0.5 per cent added thereafter, per annum.

Non-mortgage applicants can also take advantage of the cashback deals, with either their card account being credited, or receiving a cheque.

Ian Bullock, general manager of sales and marketing at YBS, said: "The launch of the Yorkshire Building Society credit card is a major step forward not just in providing cashback credits to a mortgage account but also in providing a card that combines an attractive tracker rate with a cashback."
