Holidaymakers are being advised to choose a credit card carefully and remember to take it on holiday to ensure that they are not caught out when the unexpected happens.
According to Researchers from Morgan Stanley Consumer Banking many tourists underestimate the cost of spending when on holiday and say that a well chosen credit card could help you out in a sticky situation.
Furthermore, the research revealed that jet setting Brits didn't budget correctly before changing their currency while others has not budgeted for the cost of replacing any lost items during the trip.
Patrick Muir, the marketing director of Morgan Stanley Consumer Banking, said: "Holidays are already one of our most costly purchases, but these unexpected extras could really ruin a trip abroad."
Tourist attractions and theme parks often have high entry fees, with marked up refreshments adding to costs, and Mr Muir commented that many excursions show a "marked price difference depending on where tickets are purchased, and even what time you arrive".
