The average woman spends £80,000 on shoes over the course of her lifetime, claims American Express - equivalent to £100 every month on footwear.
The card provider has used the figure to highlight the advantages of its Amex Blue card, which offers 1% cash back on almost all spending.
The £800 every woman could get back on shoes over the course of her lifetime would be enough to buy an additional 20 pairs, or a very big wardrobe to store them in.
"What woman could resist an extra 20 pairs of shoes for free?" commented Katherine Whitton, vice president and head of UK product management at American Express.
"Women clearly love shoes with their hearts and 'soles' and should think about booting out their current credit card and stepping out with the American Express Blue."
The Amex Blue also offers 2% cash back during the first three months, with a current APR on purchases and balance transfers of 6.9%.
