A new service from credit card provider MINT will mean consumers can now use text messages to receive information about their account and also to make payments to their credit card bills.
Consumers will now be able to monitor their accounts from a variety of locations as MINT will send them a monthly text alerts detailing their credit card statement.
These MINT text alerts will contain information on the minimum payment required for the account and also the outstanding balance.
Customers can then use this information to text MINT and detail the amount they wish to pay, which is subject to final confirmation from the company before the payment goes ahead.
Jerry Toher, MINT managing director, said: "Given the fast pace of modern life it seemed important for MINT to find a clever way for people's money to work around them rather than the other way round.
"By enabling people to simply send a text to get their balance and make a payment at any time of the day, our customers can manage their money easily, just like they would if they were arranging a night out with friends."
