Lloyds TSB comments on credit card letters

29 September 2006

Lloyds TSB has commented on the number of unsolicited credit card letters that are sent out by the company.

Recent research has shown that 3.4 billion pieces of junk are being posted through British letter boxes each year, with 91 million mail shots being sent by Lloyds TSB alone.

Amy Waldron, media relations manager at Lloyds TSB, said the company only ever sent mail to customers "when it is appropriate to them".

She argued: "You have to bear in mind that Lloyds TSB is a large financial services company and any amount of mail we send out does reflect the amount of customers that we have.

"We definitely do not carry out letter 'carpet bombing' campaigns. The amount of mail that we send reflects the size and breadth of the company and services we offer."

"We make sure that we send them information that we believe will be relevant to them based on the information we have about them," she concluded.
