Barclaycard Platinum now has a new lower typical Annual Percentage Rate (APR) of 14.9%. This marks a drop of 3% on the previous rate of 17.9%.
This offer is in addition to the other services the Platinum credit card already offers such as the 12-month 0% balance transfer and the 0% interest on purchases for the first three months.
This reduction in APR is the fourth Barclaycard has made this year. Previously, the Barclaycard Simplicity was lowered to 6.8% from 6.9%, the Barclaycard Flexi-Rate was lowered to 14.9% from 16.9% and the Barclaycard Student was lowered to 14.9% from 19.9%.
The reductions are a sign of the healthy competition in the credit card market at the moment, as the various companies try to out perform each other in the run up to Christmas.
Many consumers will choose a credit card at this time of year to take advantage of the 0% offers on balance transfers and 0% on new purchases when out spending hundreds of pounds on Christmas presents for loved ones.
With only a month and a half before Christmas descends upon us again, many consumers will be shopping around to get the best deal on credit cards.
