Get more for your plastic at Asda

24 November 2006

Credit card companies are going into over drive this month in an effort to attract new consumers in time for the big Christmas spend.

One of the fledgling battle grounds for credit cards is the world of supermarkets and this week sees Asda launching a fresh incentive drive by offering its customers even more value from their plastic.

Following Tesco's lead, Asda will now offer consumers two pence off every litre of petrol purchased, as well as its usual offer of 5% off all purchases at standalone Asda Living and George stores and 0.5% cashback on every purchase made wherever the card is used.

The cashback is given to consumers in the form of Asda/George vouchers to be spent in any Asda store in the country.

In a further bid to attract customers, Asda is now offering free home delivery for online shopping over £50, when you use their credit card, a marketing tactic that has worked well for rivals Ocado.

Existing customer will automatically be given these benefits, showing that Asda has recognised the benefits of rewarding the loyal consumers as well as attracting new clientele.
